The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) is a non-profit
international applied research and Development center. It is dedicated to fighting
poverty, alleviating hunger and improving the lives of people in developing
countries, was conceived in 1996. At that time, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), an international financial institution located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, signed an agreement with the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), represented by its Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) to establish the center. Together, in 2010 the government of UAE and Islamic Development Bank decided to provide the driving force behind ICBA.
